Abstract

My relationship with abstract painting is based entirely on self reflection. I consider the process of the creating the painting to be the same as looking into a mirror, a mirror in which I see only the non-physical parts of me.

I do not try to have any preconception of how the final piece will look, instead I paint by simply reacting to each shape and colour through the way they resonate with me.

Many of the pieces are reactions or reflections on the experience I have from particular songs or places. Often in connection with my experience of chromesthesia (sound to colour synaesthesia).
